I still have your beauty on my mind.
 Hello, yous.
This is a rotten sort of update, because it's really just me waxing sentimental over completely NUFFINK. Basically, this is to those of you (and the other unknown out there *wink*) who are still around after this ungodly long and unannounced hiatus - goodbye, for a while.
I haven't been around much lately, and although I miss this and you loves, there just isn't enough time. Or enough of me, really. This year is turning out to be much more of..well, everythng, than I thought it would be. I try to be as much in the now of it as possible, but somehow I always end up feeling scattered, and oddly dissatisfied. And it's not fair to any of the parties involved, especially not to you darlings.
So, I'll probably be back, sometime, but I can't tell for certain when that will be at this stage.
I'll still be checking this e-mail though, now and then: so if you're ready for a deeply sporadic but oh so highly rewarding keeping-in-touch-thing, I'm your gal.
I'll see you around, yeah?
*smooches*
ETA: All my previous entries have been or will shortly be f-locked. If you for some ungodly reason wish to see these, please sent me an e-mail.

It is a fact not quite universally acknowledged, but still rather widely spread, that I do not always do things for the proper reasons.
I applied to the community college I ended up attending because I thought I didn't have the scarcest hope to get in.
I buy books based on how well designed the cover is. This will occasionally end in disaster, but also render me with masterpieces like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Saffron - something I'm still grateful for reading. (yes, you may consider this a rec. Or a threat, at that, as it is entirely lovely and you'll regret not picking it up.)
In restaurants, I order the stuff with strangest sounding name, figuring that the actual dish has got to be spiffing if the mere name is.
Yesterday, this particular characteristic was the reason I ended up with three eggplants in my fridge. I have no idea what to do with them, but the are so pretty! All slick purpleness, slightly rounded and I just couldn't resist. The power of the aesthetic was too overwhelming. I never stood a chance.
Now, what do I do with them? I've tried just frying them, but they tasted like oddly like stale rubber and I don't think they're supposed to do that. I heard that you can have them in lasagna, but how exactly does that work out? And isn't there anything else you can do with eggplant? Bring me your eggplant recipes!
Also, I got tagged by strigoia
The quotations meme!
Go here and look through random quotes until you find 5 that you think reflects who you are or what you believe. Repost in your journal, and tag 5 friends.
( When ideas fail, words come in very handy. )
I tag bug_in_a_rug, lechatbleu and omgwtfbbq.

Lastly, have a rec . Marked , by Elucreh, written for the reversathon 2006. (Incidentally, the masterlist is just up and I am floored. Let it never again be said that I can guess anonymous artist/authors. NEVER.)
"Everything!" Sirius waved his arm expansively. "Money! Notes! Books! Chocolate! All gathered together into a pot, to be shared out according to necessity and justice! Let us be red, the strong, bright, true, glorious red of Gryffindor and communism!"
Set in the MWPP-era, Sirius encounters communism and decides to reinforce it upon the Gryffindor tower. This piece is gen, which in itself pretty much makes it worth a read. (So much love for gen!) But, it is also hilarious, spot on and underneath the witticism deeply serious in its foreshadowing of some of the darker canon events between Sirius and Remus. I am repeatedly stunned by this author's ability to convey so much emotion, and so many characteristics in such a small piece. Go! Read!
Cheerio.

I did it. I sent it in. I am a golden god. I am marvelous and you may worship me, for now. You may however not drool. well, yeah. er. that is to say, I got the manuscript ready and unless the post office messed up (and if they did they will pay!) the editor now has it in his or her hands.
I have too much blood in my caffeine system.

today's the last day for me to send in my manuscript to the editor. I need to figure out how I'm going to make that short story work, and how I can, without making too many changes (because I'm a lazy bum), possibly adapt it to fit under the heading "rubbish". So what am I doing? checking out fan fiction, ordering records I can't possibly afford, oranizing my closet...
Whatever happened to my rockn'roll self discipline?
on a a happier note: have now gotten a job, am ridiculously pleased with myself. Though it's very likely I'll be bored out of my scull by the third day, at least now I'll be payed for it. No, I have no morals or dignity. I thought that was blatantly obvious.
So. Housewarming at caroline's yesterday. Brilliant, if I ever get a new flat that's what it'll look like. She'd painted her kitchen bright red, her bedroom turquoise and the living room sand and eggshell. Obviously, it looked fabulous. I matched the colour code nicely by being green with envy, of course, but hopefully I managed to cover it up alright. The usual crowd was there but this time I hadn't seen them in forever, so it was like getting to know 10 of my favourite people of all time all over again. (tough I'll never ever ever ever EVER let Mandy make martinis for me again. I don't think I've been this hung over in a year. uhgh.nghg.)
